     Donald Bradley Somervell, Baron Somervell of Harrow was born on 24 August 1889.2 He was the son of Robert Somervell.2 He married Loelia Helen Buchan-Hepburn, daughter of Sir Archibald Buchan-Hepburn of Smeaton Hepburn, 4th Bt. and Edith Agnes Karslake, on 29 July 1933.1 He died on 18 November 1960 at age 71.1
     He was educated at Harrow School, Harrow, London, EnglandG.2 He was educated at Magdalen College, Oxford University, Oxford, Oxfordshire, EnglandG.2 He was appointed Queen's Counsel (Q.C.)1 He held the office of Lord Justice of Appeal between 1946 and 1954.3 He was appointed Officer, Order of the British Empire (O.B.E.)1 He was appointed Privy Counsellor (P.C.)1 He held the office of Lord of Appeal in Ordinary on 4 October 1954.1 He was created Baron Somervell of Harrow, of Ewelme in the County of Oxford [U.K. Law Lord] between 4 October 1954 and 1960.2

     Agnes Buchan-Hepburn was born on 9 September 1838 at Prestonkirk, East Lothian, Scotland.2 She was the daughter of Sir Thomas Buchan-Hepburn of Smeaton Hepburn, 3rd Bt. and Helen Little.1 She married James MacDouall on 16 September 1869.1 She died on 15 March 1926 at age 87 at Port Logan, Galloway, Scotland.1
     From 16 September 1869, her married name became MacDouall.
