     Lt.-Gen. Sir Charles Knight Pearson was born in July 1834 at Thorne Coffin, Yeovil, Somerset, England.1 He married Marian Catharine Mundy, daughter of Sir Robert Miller Mundy and Isabella Leyborne-Popham, in 1866.1 He died on 2 October 1909 at age 75.1
     He was appointed Knight Commander, Order of St. Michael and St. George (K.C.M.G.)1 He was appointed Companion, Order of the Bath (C.B.)1

     Clara Kathleen Smith was the daughter of C. Chaloner Smith.2 She married Major Sir Robert Spencer-Nairn of Monimail, 1st Bt., son of Sir Michael Barker Nairn of Rankeilour, 1st Bt. and Emily Frances Spencer, on 13 February 1906.1 She died on 26 January 1966.1
     From 13 February 1906, her married name became Nairn.1 From 1928, her married name became Spencer-Nairn.

     Sir Douglas Leslie Spencer Spencer-Nairn of Monimail, 2nd Bt. was born on 24 December 1906.1 He is the son of Major Sir Robert Spencer-Nairn of Monimail, 1st Bt. and Clara Kathleen Smith.2 He married, firstly, Elizabeth Livingston Henderson, daughter of Arnold James Henderson, on 20 January 1931.1 He and Elizabeth Livingston Henderson were divorced in 1946.1 He married, secondly, Elizabeth Louise Vester, daughter of Frederick Vester, on 22 November 1946.2 He died on 8 November 1970 at age 63.2
     He lived at Shrewsbury School, Shrewsbury, Shropshire, England.1 He graduated from Trinity Hall, Cambridge University, Cambridge, Cambridgeshire, England, in 1928 with a Bachelor of Arts (B.A.)1 He graduated from Trinity Hall, Cambridge University, Cambridge, Cambridgeshire, England, in 1932 with a Master of Arts (M.A.)1 He was awarded the Territorial Decoration (T.D.)1 He gained the rank of Lieutenant-Colonel (Staff) in the Black Watch (Territorial Army.)1 He was director of Nairn & Williamson Holdings.1 He held the office of Justice of the Peace (J.P.)1 He held the office of Member of Parliament (M.P.) (Conservative) for Central Ayrshire between 1955 and September 1959.1 He succeeded as the 2nd Baronet Spencer-Nairn, of Monimail, co. Fife [U.K., 1933] on 20 October 1960.1
